Art Dahmer is a visual and performance artist best known for his one-man band, Dahmer's Breakfast. Dahmer's music falls most closely into the genre known as Antifolk. Antifolk is characterized as a musical style that “promotes song-writing over technique and personality over polish. Some see it as the evolution of folk, others as a combination of punk and folk.” Visually, Dahmer’s performances feature outrageous outfits and projections of homemade videos. Described by others as “feel bad music,” Dahmer’s Breakfast’s songs highlight dark and unfortunate themes, such as how the Rockefeller’s started Big Pharma, the discomfort of sharing a last name with a notorious serial killer, and other instances of self-deprecating humor. Dahmer's Breakfast held a year long residency at the Ghost Light in Hamtramck, Michigan as the founder, booker, promoter, performer, and host of the monthly LGBTQIA+ variety show, "HAMTRAMCK IS GAY!"
